HOME MADE STAR WARS COSTUMES
Belt and Holster
BELT ANDHOLSTER - for the 'Han Solo' type blaster
Use with these costumes: X-wing pilot, Nein Numb, Corellian pilot (Han Solo).
NEW INSTRUCTIONS:
Update: I have recently discovered black web work belts at the local hardwarestores. I recommend using these instead of making a belt out of black vinyl. The work belts are only $4.
Materials needed: Black work belt, black vinyl, black cloth tape, pop rivets,Blastech DL-44 pistol, plastic "For Sale" sign, silver spraypaint.
Cut out the belt buckle from the plastic "For Sale" sign and spray paint itsliver.
Pattern:
This is preferable to the cardboardused below - it will save you from messing with velcro and glue. The buckle may beriveted on to the black work belt as shown in the picture, or can be incorporated in tothe belt/holster combination shown below.
ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Materials needed: Black vinyl, black cloth tape, pop rivets, Blastech DL-44 pistol,2" and 1" Velcro, silver spraypaint.
Try to copy the pattern the best that you can.
The belt is 2.5" (6 cm) tall and as wide as you need it (it's easy to underestimatethis). The wing-shaped piece is 12.5" (32 cm) wide and 6.5" (16 cm)tall.
Start by hot gluing the wing-shaped piece onto the other piece as shown.
Then, lay your Blaster down on the holster as shown
and wrap the wing-shaped piece around it. You will need to cut a couple of notches to help wrap up the Blaster. Don't wrap ittoo tight!
Tape it down with your black duct tape, you can also use hot glue to makeit stronger.
Next, use safety pins to temporarily attach theholster to the belt. This is so you can try it on to see what feels better: aBlaster that rides a little high, or down low.
Now replace the safety pins with a couple of pop-rivets.
Rivet the buckle on at this time as well. I cut the belt buckle outof cardboard, you can also use thin wood. Here is the pattern- the square buckle is for the Imperial Officer, the octagon buckle is for Han Solo, andthe X-wing Pilot costume. Cut the same buckle out of posterboard and paint itsilver. Then hot-glue it on the cardboard buckle to hide the rivets.
